A independent evaluation from one of our web visitors!! |
| Hi Dave I own a laser range finder and with some very difficult to get permission, got an aide to walk me to the edge where I could measure the height. They would not let me bring anything onto the Skywalk even when I told them they could walk next to me as I got my measurement. I was told my rangefinder is no different than a camera and could scratch the glass if I dropped it. But a measurement from the cliff was fine by me. The deck is 740 feet to the plateau below which is the true height of the structure. As you know the canyon continues to drop down to the Colorado in steps that are nearly a mile and a half away. Anyway, I took a USGS topo map and used it to show the elevation as it drops to the river. The USGS is somewhat crude but perfectly serviceable to show the general elevation difference. Regards, Eric
